The Southern Festival of Books is an annual event that takes place in Nashville, Tennessee and brings together more than 110 authors from all over the state. This year, the festival is being held virtually, allowing readers from all over Tennessee to join in on the fun. The event is proudly sponsored by the Nashville Metropolitan Area Arts Commission, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Tennessee Arts Commission, the Nashville Public Library, Ingram Content Group, Vanderbilt University, Parnassus Books and Nashville Scene. Tim Henderson, executive director of Humanities Tennessee, believes that the virtual format will provide people from all over Tennessee with access to the event.
The festival's children's stage and activity center, presented in collaboration with Turnip Green Creative Reuse, will feature authors, musicians, artists, crafts, character costumes and parties to celebrate beloved children's books. The Southern Festival of Books is a great opportunity for readers of all ages to explore new books and authors. There are numerous events for young readers at the children's, middle grade and young adult levels.
